Artist Bio:  Ari Bird attended the University of California Santa Cruz, where she toiled night and day in the print studio, producing lithographs, Intaglio prints, woodcuts and handbound books. She currently resides in San Francisco and continues to create. The work in this show seeks to examine the spectral qualities of identity through pseudo science, pop psychology and B-level cult films.

2011 Teen Battle of the Bands

SCRS is once again a proud sponosr of the Battle of the Bands.

Where: Santa Cruz City Parking Lot beside the Central Branch Library, 224 Church Street, Downtown Santa Cruz

When: Saturday July 23, 2011 from 1-4pm

What: 3rd Annual Santa Cruz Public Library Teen Battle Of The Bands is on for 2011. Join us for an afternoon of music and fun as the next generation of young musicians takes to the stage. As always, this FREE, family friendly concert will definitely be rockin’. So come cheer on the bands as they “battle it out” for their choice of top prizes that have been donated by our awesome sponsors.

The Battle of the Bands concert is an outdoor event, so remember to bring along your sunscreen and folding chairs. Don’t miss this opportunity to rock out with your favorite librarians and help support the future of the Santa Cruz music scene.

So come on down and get a library card, check out a book, and get ready to feel the power of rock n’ roll !

The 54th Grammy Submissions Are Now Open

Starting this week, the Grammy Foundation will be accepting online entries for titles released between Oct 2010 and July 2011.  The first round of submissions will be open from July 6th – 27th, 2011. The Grammy Foundation announced in their April press release that categories have been updated.
